Campaign Issues

Why are you running for this office?
So the prosecutor’s office will begin to honor The Constitution fully.
What skillsets and real life experience do you have that makes you the best candidate for the role?
Lived in NYC when the WTC was bombed in 1993. Son and grandson of Detroit police officers. Helped catch an identity thief. Have been a lawyer since 1993. Passed Bar the first time I took it in 1992.
What are the top three issues you are concerned with for your district/municipality?
Keeping Macomb County safe from violent criminals and sex offenders. Bringing jobs back from China.
What are the solutions you will bring forward if elected?
I will lead by example and eliminate Eric Smith’s loyalty oath. I will suggest ways to make Michigan laws more in tune with victim’s rights. Too many violent criminals and sex offenders get out and reoffend once they are released from custody. If a repeat offender or perpetrator of an egregious crime remains a danger to society, there must be a mechanism in place to make sure society is protected from such people. For example, a psychological assessment before being cleared to live among ordinary society. We need to do a better job of protecting our citizens from such scum. The ACLU cannot have the last word on this issue.
What specific measures will you take to maintain low taxes and less expensive, limited government?
I will make sure to stay within the budget given to me and look for savings.
If elected, what will you do to better promote transparency in government?
I will let my assistant prosecutors speak to the press and other reputable groups, and I will be forthcoming. I will also make sure FOIA requests are honored; such is not the case now in Macomb County in many cases where they should be.
Have you received any endorsements?  If so, please list.
No, but a federal judge I know said he was going to vote for me.  I do not believe in seeking out endorsements. I think it reeks of corruption.

Party Issues

Why are you a running as a Republican?
I feel it best reflects my views.
What prior involvement have you had in the Republican Party or Conservative organizations?
I interned for State Rep. Dave Jaye in 1990-91 in Lansing, and have always run as a Republican. I think it is the best party for America.
What is your position on Obamacare?
I think it needs to be repealed and we need to write something more simple that does not pay for illegal aliens and that does not force people to buy insurance.
What is your position on abortion?
Abortion is tragic and people should not use it as a form of birth control.
What is your position on the 2nd Amendment?
The right to bear arms is as important as all the other rights our Forefathers put into the Constitution and I will make sure that right is respected in our County.
What is your position on public sector unions?
Unions need to make sacrifices like everyone else.

State/County/Local Issues

What are the two biggest issues you feel Macomb County is facing today?
The abuse of power and our dire economy.
Do you think Macomb County should have casinos?
I think it would probably have a negative impact overall.
What is your position on the Ambassador bridge project?
I think Governor Snyder did pretty good getting Canada to pay for a new bridge.
What is your position on special millages like the DIA or Zoo millages?
I support art and animals, but think the budgets are padded and need to be trimmed where appropriate, mostly in high salaries.
