Campaign Issues

Why are you running for this office?
District 9 needs a strong leader and a team player willing to work with township and city officials.  As a resident raising a family in Macomb County, I feel strongly that our county needs to be fiscally sound while preserving vital county services to ensure the health and safety of our residents.  I have the business, financial and legal experience to work to balance the projected county deficit while keeping taxes low and preserving county services.  Further, it is imperative that Macomb County be represented by those willing to promote and encourage others to promote this county as the premier county to live, work and raise a family.
What skillsets and real life experience do you have that makes you the best candidate for the role?
As a working professional and mother, I am a leader that always strives to give 100% to reach and exceed goals.  I have the real world and professional experience (law degree, accounting degree, Michigan real estate license) to best represent District 9.  I have built a foundation in order to make the responsible decisions District 9 needs.  Through my years of legal experience, I have the ability to be a strong voice, good listener and good mediator for those I represent.  As a result, I have been recognized and respected by clients, colleagues, and adversaries earning the honors of DBusiness Magazine Top Lawyer, Michigan Super Lawyer Rising Star, Michigan Lawyers Weekly Up and Coming Lawyer.
What are the top three issues you are concerned with for your district/municipality?
  1. Achieving a balance budget while preserving county services
  2. Not initiating new taxes
  3. Attraction of new business development
What are the solutions you will bring forward if elected?
I plan to use my business and accounting experience to work with the budget and proposed deficit to ensure that vital county services remain and other aspects of government become more efficient.  I plan to work with elected officials of the municipalities on business development and collaboration to promote Macomb County as the premier county to live, work, and raise a family.
What specific measures will you take to maintain low taxes and less expensive, limited government?
It is my goal to work towards balancing the budget to ensure that county tax dollars are put to best use for the residents in our county on vital county services.  I believe that efficient government is necessary to ensure that less tax dollars are spent.  Further, I plan to maintain low tax base and refrain from enacting new tax millages.
If elected, what will you do to better promote transparency in government?
I would work to ensure that the residents of Macomb County are best represented by upholding the voter approved charter.  I also believe that team work and communication (both with residents and elected officials) best promotes transparency and allows residents to be actively involved in county government.
