Campaign Issues

Why are you running for this office?
Chesterfield Township has an abundance of potential and resources.  I would like to help the residents and businesses uncover those resources to provide jobs and opportunities.
What skillsets and real life experience do you have that makes you the best candidate for the role?
I worked 8 years in the finance industry and I have a solid understanding of the financial markets.  My training and experience working for Charles Schwab taught me sound fiscal policies.  When the office closed due to the downturn, like others, I reinvented my career.  I have learned to understand the current business marketing trends.  As an entrepreneur, brand promoter, marketing and administrative specialist I have experience in navigating the market.  It is this understanding and learning of continual growth and change that must also happen in the public sector.  It is necessary for governments to continually assess their practices and financial trends.
What are the top three issues you are concerned with for your district/municipality?
Vision – Chesterfield Township needs people that understand the financial environment and can identify the townships strengths and assets.

Business – Chesterfield is in a great location for many different types of business. It is time to look at why and how things are done to identify any areas that might hinder businesses from developing and investing in Chesterfield.

Residents – The residents are the most valuable asset of any community.  They deserve to be treated with respect and to have people that are working hard for their best interest.

What are the solutions you will bring forward if elected?
Vision – I will create an environment in the treasurer’s office and beyond that will make Chesterfield an even better place to live, work and play.

Business – I plan on creating an environment that is attractive to new business and sustains established business.  I will work with township officials to create a business friendly environment.

Residents – Chesterfield Township is one great community made up of many great individuals.  I will serve the residents of Chesterfield Township with respect, trust and compassion.

What specific measures will you take to maintain low taxes and less expensive, limited government?
I will provide unbiased and thorough research that will give a well rounded perspective in making decisions.
If elected, what will you do to better promote transparency in government?
I will quickly and thoroughly make information accessible to the community.
Have you received any endorsements?  If so, please list.

What is your position on Obamacare?
The evidence speaks for itself.  The United Nations Development Program uses a table called the Human Development Index.  According to their research the United States ranks 4th compared to all of the countries in the world.  The Human Development Index is a comparative measure of factors like life expectancy, literacy, education and standards of living.  (http://humandevelopmentindex.net).  Countries with similar programs to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act rank below the United States.  Many of these countries are not able to sustain these programs long term.
What is your position on abortion?
What is your position on the 2nd Amendment?
Pro-2nd amendment
What is your position on public sector unions?
They are an organization intended to represent the collective interests of workers

State/County/Local Issues

What are the two biggest issues you feel Macomb County is facing today?
Residents – Homeowners are the basis of the community.  It is important to provide an atmosphere that will keep the current residents and attract new homeowners.  Macomb must make decisions that build on our strengths.  Word of mouth is the most effective form of advertising.  People move to Macomb looking for good schools, fun recreation, nice inexpensive housing, low taxes and sound government.  We must continue to build on these principles.

Business – Macomb has been affected in many ways by the changes in the global economy.  As business trends shift it is important to prepare for these shifts.  Technology has increased the speed at which the effects of changes will be felt.  It is necessary for leaders to properly analyze these trends and look for opportunities to take advantage of them.  Policy makers must find ways to be globally competitive for business investment.

Do you think Macomb County should have casinos?
It is important to do thorough research before deciding to build a casino in Macomb.  It is necessary to look at a thorough market analysis.  The residents of Macomb must consider such things like long term affects to homeowners and who the target market for a casino project is.
What is your position on the Ambassador bridge project?
The relationship with our Canadian neighbors is vital to Chesterfield Township.  Geographically The Blue Water bridge traffic travels through Chesterfield on a daily basis.  It is imperative for Chesterfield to understand how to tap into this traffic flow.
What is your position on special millages like the DIA or Zoo millages?
The taxpayers will decide the special millage
