Campaign Issues

Why are you running for this office?
To reduce the size, scope and cost of local government.
What skillsets and real life experience do you have that makes you the best candidate for the role?
I have been validating local elections as a member of the Chesterfield Township Board of Canvassers for over 10 years. I have advanced training in campaigns and elections as well as practical election related experience for over 15 years. I also have experience in government budgets and cooperative efforts with state and local governments as a former staff member in the Michigan House of Representatives.
What are the top three issues you are concerned with for your district/municipality?
Township budget deficits, an eroding business environment and increasing taxes and fees
What are the solutions you will bring forward if elected?
Change the focus from government growth to business and community growth. Encourage private sector growth by reducing or eliminating burdensome costs and regulations that keep businesses from starting up or staying in Chesterfield Township.
What specific measures will you take to maintain low taxes and less expensive, limited government?
Eliminate the administrative fee charged on winter tax bills as well as other taxes and fees that have been applied to residents and businesses. Streamline department operations and consolidate services to reduce costs. Advocate for a balanced budget as well as additional budget reductions or elimination of non-essential services
If elected, what will you do to better promote transparency in government?
Encourage online publication of all township budgets past and present. Discourage the extensive use of consent agendas.
Have you received any endorsements?  If so, please list.

Increased foreclosures and business closures resulting in decreased revenue.

Increased unemployment or under employment.

Do you think Macomb County should have casinos?
I think it should certainly be considered as any other business venture would be.
What is your position on the Ambassador bridge project?
Privately owned enterprises should be preserved whenever possible.
What is your position on special millages like the DIA or Zoo millages?
I am opposed to government funding of these types of entities as they should not be a function of government. Ideally, they should be privately owned and operated.
