June 2012 RCNMC Meeting – Focus on Education for 2012

Event Information:
The next meeting of the RCNMC will be held on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at 7 p.m. at the Hamlin Pub located at 55076 Van Dyke in Shelby Township (Van Dyke and 25 Mile Rd.).

The topic for this meeting will be focused on Education.  Due to the passage of recent legislation, school board elections will now be held in November if even-numbered years.  This will give a broader electorate the opportunity to decide on the path of education in Macomb County.  Various presentations will be provided on the state of our educational system and what we can do to improve the situation.

Board of Education Election Organizational Meeting

Event Information:
This is the first year when School Board races will take place during the general election.  30 seats on 14 Macomb County school boards are up for election.  The Macomb County Republican Party intends to contest all of these seats.  John Wolfsberger, chairman of the Macomb Township Republican Caucus, is leading this effort.

There will be a planning and organization meeting from 9 a.m.-11 a.m. on Saturday, June 23 at the Macomb County Victory Center at Schoenherr and Hall Roads. The agenda is:

  • Pamela Hornberger, a member of the L’Anse Creuse School Board, speaking on the duties and responsibilities of a school board member.
  • Identification and recruitment of school board candidates.
  • Campaign strategy and structure.
  • Volunteer recruitment and organization.
  • Campaign activities planning.

The Macomb County Republican Party will provide coffee and doughnuts for attendees.

Grace Caporuscio for Chippewa Valley School Board

Grace CaporuscioIn the Chippewa Valley School DistrictGrace Caporusciois making her second attempt to get on the school board.  Grace is a working professional and a mother of three children in the district.  She ran for the board in 2009 and fell just short to two incumbents.  Since that time, Grace has been watchdogging the spending conducted by the school board and would welcome the opportunity to join the board and ensure taxpayer dollars are appropriately going to the classroom.  Click here for Grace’s campaign flyer or visit her website

Mary Hilton for L’Anse Creuse School Board

Mary HiltonNewcomer Mary Hilton is looking to add her fiscally concientious approach to the board of the L’Anse Creuse School District.  Mary is a registered nurse with three children in the district.  She has spent a lot of time volunteering in classrooms as well as serving as a coach and team mom for various children’s activities.
