Campaign Issues

Why are you running for this office?
I enjoy working and serving the residents and have a complete sense of ownership of dedication being born and raised here in Macomb Township.
What skillsets and real life experience do you have that makes you the best candidate for the role?
I have been a business owner, logistics manager warehouse division for DuPont Automotive a Global corporation for 22 years. I have served as the Macomb Twp Supervisor for the last 3.5 years. I believe I am extremely even keel and not reactive and use common sense as a clear approach with facts and details.
What are the top three issues you are concerned with for your district/municipality?
Senior Community services overall, Continues small business development and mixed use ordinances for the fulfillment of the commercial and industrial zone areas, Right sizing the proper law enforcement services in Macomb Township.
What are the solutions you will bring forward if elected?
I want to develop a senior program that would have time to foster and grow and work in the sense of community for one of the MOST critical items and that is to allow our seniors the social time that is needed — Many of them live alone and look forward to the social time that they get to be with other seniors.
What specific measures will you take to maintain low taxes and less expensive, limited government?
I will work to maintain the services we currently offer with no tax increase. I am sure we can look at some avenues that we can fund some additional law enforcement services without it being a burden to the community or the tax base to cause increase in the cost to the community.
If elected, what will you do to better promote transparency in government?
I believe the current handling of everything on line may be the best way we promote that as it has been a HUGE upswing in the past 3.5 years through all depts. I would like to offer more items on line for the connivance to the residents.
Have you received any endorsements?  If so, please list.
I have not actively sought the endorsements although I do have some on the web site and support letters I believe people should research the candidates for them self and form their own opinion.

RCNMC Review

Mr. Grabow ran for Macomb Township Supervisor and won as a Democrat in 2008.

Party Issues

Why are you a running as a Republican?
I believe it best fits with whom I am with my background as I have worked for companies and owned companies my background is in the upper management although I have spent years also as a union employee so I believe and clearly support many of the unions and the work they do for the best interest of the membership workers.
What prior involvement have you had in the Republican Party or Conservative organizations?
Prior to being elected not much as I always believe in the right person for the job is key.
What is your position on Obamacare?
Personally I don’t think it’s the best choice as if we work and have companies and workers together brainstorm to do some type of ownership and cost share we will have a much better solution than what has been presented.
What is your position on abortion?
I truly believe this is an issue that must be careful to issues- if a woman is raped this changes the entire playing field and each case must be considered on its own merit.
What is your position on the 2nd Amendment?
I completely support the 2nd amendment.
What is your position on public sector unions?
Due to the turnover of management I can and do understand the union’s position but at the same time they must also be aware that they cannot be asking for the sky and the moon as government must run as the most effective company in the top 100 businesses!

State/County/Local Issues

What are the two biggest issues you feel Macomb County is facing today?
Property tax foreclosure short sales, this damages the community by having to pay for the short comings of the auctions and creates a hard ship on the community the min price should be what is owed-
Do you think Macomb County should have casinos?
Sure if it is a vote of the people let the people of these communities decide and if they can pay for the increase of required services and expenses they are a private business.
What is your position on the Ambassador bridge project?
A third crossing is not a bad idea. Who runs it is the issue and the cost effectiveness of the project is key. I don’t think the tax payers should be paying for this. I believe a private entity might do a much better job at this operation based on the history.
What is your position on special millages like the DIA or Zoo millages?
This is a vote of the people both are good projects and worthy of consideration. Many people have to decide how to handle the bills they have now and if we work to build the business base back up so that there can be jobs then a millage for either would not be a HUGE crisis.
