Campaign Issues

Why are you running for this office?
Because of my long standing professional and personal desire to serve my community, and the fact that this township needs a strong leader, and I believe that I am that person.
What skillsets and real life experience do you have that makes you the best candidate for the role?
Because of my position with the Macomb County Deputies and Dispatchers Association, I have extensive experience in labor relations law, and have had the opportunity to master these skills.  I have been involved in contract negotiations with the County of Macomb for several years, and will bring this knowledge to the township  level.  The supervisor must be able to handle all kinds of situations, and I have experienced a multitude of different scenarios in my 27 years as a law enforcement official.  I am respected by everyone at work, and I am passionate about my job.  I will bring that passion to Macomb Township, and will help to usher in a new era of government.
What are the top three issues you are concerned with for your district/municipality?
Creating a pro-business environment, addressing the concerns of our senior citizens, and creating an atmosphere of teamwork.
What are the solutions you will bring forward if elected?
We need to develop a strategy with current business leaders in Macomb Township, along with other community leaders, to market Macomb Township, and to show potential businesses that we are the right choice for them.  We will establish a liaison to work with the township clerk, and find a way to cut through the red tape that has apparently thwarted many businesses from coming to Macomb Township in the past.  Many business owners have expressed their frustrations with me, and many others have simply built their business elsewhere.  This must stop!  We all know that more businesses equals more job opportunities within the township, they enhance our tax base, and our property values increase on our homes.  This enhancement of our tax base will also allow us to continue the many excellent services that help keep us safe, without having to raise taxes.  We all win!Senior services will be addressed, and we will make every effort to include our seniors in every facet of this administration.  The Senior Center is an embarrassment, and needs to be addressed.  Every senior will have a voice, and will be encouraged to express his or her thoughts and concerns.  Any opinion will be welcome, and I will always be accessible.  If you cannot make it to me, I will come to you.Teamwork will be emphasized throughout the township, and township employees will always feel like they are part of the team.  Ideas will be welcome, and my door will always be open.  This philosophy will extend to all residents, since we are all in this together.  Times are still tough for many people, but we will find a way to make it through together.  We will prioritize our needs as a township, and work together to make our visions reality.  As the leader, I look forward to these challenges.
What specific measures will you take to maintain low taxes and less expensive, limited government?
Again, I will market Macomb Township, and we will bring in new businesses.  This will enhance our tax base, and help to maintain low taxes.
If elected, what will you do to better promote transparency in government?
For starters, televise the township meetings live.  Make certain that the residents understand the topics that will be discussed at every meeting, and have an adequate amount of time to respond to these topics if they so desire.  Also, make certain that citizens can access information on-line as it relates to the township.

Party Issues

Why are you a running as a Republican?
I have become more conservative in my views on many issues as I have grown older, and that has led me to my current status.  I am pro-business, and believe in limited government.  As a recent convert to the G.O.P., I often remind people that Ronald Reagan was a Democrat for much of his life.  We can all agree that President Reagan was a well-rounded individual, and an excellent president.
What prior involvement have you had in the Republican Party or Conservative organizations?
None
What is your position on Obamacare?
I am not quite sure how you can force people to purchase health care, especially when they may be struggling to buy basic necessities.
What is your position on abortion?
I am Catholic, I am pro-life.
What is your position on the 2nd Amendment?
I am a Deputy Sheriff with 27 years of experience.  We must defend this amendment.
What is your position on public sector unions?
I have been a union member for 27 years.  I believe in this system.

State/County/Local Issues

What are the two biggest issues you feel Macomb County is facing today?
Undoubtedly, the number one issue is the drop in property values.  This impacts so many things.  Secondly, we need to attract more businesses to the county. I will gladly work with the County Executive to market our community.
Do you think Macomb County should have casinos?
No
What is your position on the Ambassador bridge project?
As long as Canada is footing the bill, I personally believe that it is a project that will benefit this region for decades to come.
What is your position on special millages like the DIA or Zoo millages?
From information that I have received from numerous sources, these institutions are already solid financially.  I will vote no.  Yes for the veterans!!
