Campaign Issues

Why are you running for this office?
I want to make a difference in Chesterfield Township. The township board is comprised of mostly all Democrats. The board needs to be representing the demographics of township better.
What skillsets and real life experience do you have that makes you the best candidate for the role?
I have been a Chesterfield Township resident for 16 years. Since 2004, I have been a Pet Therapy Volunteer in the Anchor Bay area. This is my first time running for an elected township position. I believe this gives me a bit of advantage. If elected, I will be looking at the township business through the eyes of an elected official but also as a resident. I will vote with the conscious of what is best for the township residents and businesses.
What are the top three issues you are concerned with for your district/municipality?
  1. Remove the 1% fee the township board voted on.
  2. Keeping the Chesterfield Township Police and Fire Departments.
  3. Increase our tax revenue by making Chesterfield Township more appealing for businesses and people to want move here.
What are the solutions you will bring forward if elected?
Researching what other local townships and cities are doing to stay in their budgets during these bad economic times. The township officials need to spend the township’s money wisely.
What specific measures will you take to maintain low taxes and less expensive, limited government?
  • Township officials should not be asking for raises when the township residents have had to take pay cuts from their places of employment.
  • The township has a deficit and needs to cut back. The township residents and businesses have had to cut back and live within their budget.
  • Any additional fees and taxes should be voted by the township residents
If elected, what will you do to better promote transparency in government?
I would like to see all the department budgets posted on the township website for the residents to be able to easily access.
Have you received any endorsements?  If so, please list.

Party Issues

Why are you a running as a Republican?
My views are more in line with the Republican Party than the Democratic Party.
What prior involvement have you had in the Republican Party or Conservative organizations?
I’m a Precinct Delegate.
What is your position on Obamacare?
It needs to be repealed. It’s too large of a bill and most of Congress did not read the bill or were able to understand it. There a couple good things like pre-existing conditions and college students being able to stay on their parents insurance.
What is your position on abortion?
I am Pro-Life.
What is your position on the 2nd Amendment?
I am a supporter of the 2nd Amendment.
What is your position on public sector unions?
Public sector unions need to be more realistic on what people in the private sector are being paid in this economy.

State/County/Local Issues

What are the two biggest issues you feel Macomb County is facing today?
  1. Lower property values and foreclosed houses.
  2. Lack of jobs
Do you think Macomb County should have casinos?
It would be great to add jobs to Macomb County. But, we need to research to see if other areas with casinos have had an increase in crime.
What is your position on the Ambassador bridge project?
What is your position on special millages like the DIA or Zoo millages?
The Zoo and the DIA are wonderful places to visit. But the Macomb County residents can’t afford additional special millages.
