Campaign Issues

Why are you running for this office?
To facilitate a professional attitude, with integrity, in the Bruce Township Government. To assure inclusive decision making. To update and improve the information technology being used. To promote regional collaboration with local governmental units.
What skillsets and real life experience do you have that makes you the best candidate for the role?
My education:

  • BS – Mathematics W.M.U.
  • MA – International Economics, W.S.U.
  • Master Citizen Planner, M.S.U.
  • Certified in Sustainable Communities, M.S.U.

My work experience

  • Thirty One years managing information and the under laying technology for GM, EDS, and HP as a Team Leader, Supervisor and Project Manager
  • Four years as secretary for the WBRW Board publishing meeting minutes, schedule public hearings and managing the Boards correspondence with the public
  • Twelve years on the Romeo Planning Commission, ten years as a Master Citizen Planner
  • Being retired I can devote 100% of my time to the office of Clerk
What are the top three issues you are concerned with for your district/municipality?
  • The township governments image and their ability to function effectively as a team
  • Sewer debt
  • Road improvement
What are the solutions you will bring forward if elected?
Every issue should be handled as a project. By that I mean that all the stakeholders need to be identified and brought into the decision making process. This team would identify the objectives to be accomplished, the risks involved, the assumptions being made, the timing or schedule, the cost of the project and the sources of revenue.
What specific measures will you take to maintain low taxes and less expensive, limited government?
Work with other regional governmental units to leverage our existing assists and revenue. For example, extending EMS services into Almont Twp. / Lapeer County. This service provides a needed quick response service to Almont Twp., While leveraging Bruce Townships investment in capital assets and personnel training.
If elected, what will you do to better promote transparency in government?
Implement information technology to make all township information available to township residents in timely cost effective manner.

Why are you a running as a Republican?
I am running as a Republican because the party best represents my core values on limited government, our basic rights as provided constitutionally and my core moral, economic, and conservative values.
What prior involvement have you had in the Republican Party or Conservative organizations?
I have been a financial and moral supporter of the republican philosophy my entire life.
What is your position on Obamacare?
I don’t believe in mandates, but we do need to address our nations inadequate health care services for the most venerable citizens.
What is your position on abortion?
I believe this is a very personal choice and the government should not be dictating an individual’s behavior.
What is your position on the 2nd Amendment?
I believe in a person’s right to defend themselves and the government should not be dictating an individual’s behavior.
What is your position on public sector unions?
I believe in a person freedom and a person’s right to decide what is best for them and the government should not be mandating individual’s behavior.

State/County/Local Issues

What are the two biggest issues you feel Macomb County is facing today?
  1. high unemployment
  2. providing essential services with declining revenue
Do you think Macomb County should have casinos?
Yes if the free market supports it.
What is your position on the Ambassador bridge project?
Essential commerce infrastructure should be management by the public domain
What is your position on special millages like the DIA or Zoo millages?
It is a measure of the social maturity to locally have world class cultural venues available to its citizens.
